As digital camera we can get on market now-a-days, the highest pixel just only 16megapixel, but the 40 gigapixel digital camera you seen it? NASA developed specifically for scientific research on the use of the camera’s image sensor pixel 40 giga, 40 gigapixels can capture the large 88000 x 44000 resolution, digital photos of this size, if not compressed, then a photo capacity is a staggering 24GB!

Return to Flight, Rollout of Space Shuttle Discovery, April 6, 2005. Taken with the Gigapxl™ camera (1-minute exposure) from approximately 80 meters, Discovery on its Crawler-Transporter is captured shortly after sunset during a pause in its 1-mph journey to the Launch Pad from the Vehicle Assembly Building. (The International Space Station captured another view of the rollout.) The Crawler itself measures 131 x 113 feet and weighs in at 5.5 million pounds; the shuttle with its load adds another 12 million pounds. Brian was strategically positioned so as to block a spot light which was pointed in the direction of the camera.

Expanses such as the Big Sur Coast of California are perfect for the wide-angle Gigapxl camera. The Bixby Bridge, located south of Carmel on California Highway 1, is one of several arch bridges built for the coast highway. Completed in 1932, this Historic Landmark is one of the largest single arch concrete bridges in the world; 714′ long, with a main span of 320′. At 20% of the original area, the texture of the concrete begins to show, as well as some of the Art Deco detailing of the piers.

A final zoom to about 0.05% of the original area. Note the individual leaves at the extreme left of this image and the sharpness of the logo on the left sleeve of the shirt. The logo text, the person’s lips, ear lobe, and the smaller instances of “bunching” in the shirt all exhibit clear definition in the 1/4″ to 1/2″ range. Consider this when viewing the full image at the top of the screen.
